Features in depth

Reference-grade signal purity

Reference-grade signal purity

The SSG5000X targets the measurements where the source has to be cleaner than what you test — receiver blocking, ACPR and modulation quality.

  • −120 dBc/Hz phase noise @ 1 GHz, 20 kHz offset
  • Industry-leading spectral purity and low EVM
  • Output up to +26 dBm with fine level control
  • Pristine carrier for blocking, ACPR and intermod tests

Built-in vector engine (-V)

The -V models fold an I/Q baseband generator into the same box, so one instrument produces both clean carriers and modern digitally-modulated signals.

  • Internal I/Q baseband — no external AWG needed
  • Digitally-modulated & wideband vector signals
  • IQ bandwidth upgradeable from 75 MHz to 150 MHz
  • Ideal for 5G sub-6, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and radar waveforms

Hardware option

10M-OCXO-L — high-accuracy OCXO clock source

An OCXO (Oven-Controlled Crystal Oscillator) is an internal hardware upgrade that replaces the SSG5000X’s standard 10 MHz reference with an oven-stabilised crystal. The result is a markedly more accurate and stable timebase — the foundation every frequency, level and modulation measurement is built on. Fit it when your application needs reference-grade frequency accuracy, low drift over temperature and time, or a common clock across the bench.

  • Oven-stabilised crystal

The 10 MHz quartz crystal sits in a temperature-controlled oven, so the reference frequency barely moves as the lab warms up or cools down.

  • Far tighter accuracy & ageing

Replaces the standard internal timebase with a much lower-drift reference — better initial accuracy and a smaller yearly ageing figure for reference-grade work.

  • Cleaner close-in phase noise

A more stable timebase improves close-to-carrier phase noise and frequency stability, which matters for narrowband, EVM and modulation-quality measurements.

  • Lock your whole bench

Provides a stable 10 MHz that other instruments can lock to (or be locked from) via the rear-panel reference, keeping a multi-instrument setup on one common clock.

Frequently asked questions

How high in frequency does the SSG5000X go?

4 GHz (SSG5040X) or 6 GHz (SSG5060X); the 4 GHz models can be upgraded to 6 GHz with a license.

What is the difference between the X and -V models?

The -V models add an internal I/Q baseband generator, so they produce vector / digitally-modulated signals in one box. Non-V models are clean analog sources.

How wide is the vector (IQ) bandwidth?

75 MHz, upgradeable to 150 MHz with the B150 license — wide enough for 5G sub-6, Wi-Fi and radar waveforms.

How good is the phase noise?

−120 dBc/Hz at 1 GHz, 20 kHz offset (typical) — among the best in its class.

What output power can it deliver?

Up to +26 dBm, with fine level control for both cabled and over-the-air setups.
