12-bit resolution, more channels

The SDS5000X HD pairs a true 12-bit ADC (up to 16-bit in HiRes) with a high channel count — 4, 6 or 8 analog channels plus an optional 16-channel logic probe. An exceptionally low 140 µVrms noise floor means the extra bits translate into real, visible detail.

It is built for serious capture: 5 GSa/s sampling and up to 2.5 Gpts of acquisition memory hold long, fast events at full resolution, while a 160,000 wfm/s update rate catches the rare ones. A 12.1" capacitive touch display, USB 3.0, Gigabit LAN and LXI make it quick to drive and easy to automate.

Built-in single- and three-phase power analysis, Bode plotting and deep serial decode make it especially strong for power-electronics, motor-drive, automotive and multi-rail embedded work. A low-profile, screen-less SDS5000L variant is available for rack and ATE systems.

Key highlights

True 12-bit resolution

A 12-bit ADC (up to 16-bit in HiRes) with an ultra-low 140 µVrms noise floor reveals detail an 8-bit scope buries.

Up to 8 analog channels

4, 6 or 8 analog channels plus 16 digital (MSO) — watch power rails, phases and buses together.

2.5 Gpts deep memory

Industry-leading memory keeps fast sampling over very long captures (2.5 Gpts/ch in quarter-channel mode).

Power & three-phase analysis

Built-in power, three-phase and Bode analysis plus deep serial decode turn one scope into a full bench.

Models in the series

Features in depth

Power-up sequence analysis

Power-up sequence analysis

With up to eight analog channels, the SDS5000X HD is built for power-up (and power-down) sequence analysis — confirming that every voltage rail of a board comes up in the right order, at the right time and with a clean ramp.

  • Capture the turn-on of many rails at once — up to 8 analog channels
  • Verify rail order, inter-rail delay and ramp-up time
  • Catch sequencing faults, glitches, overshoot and brown-outs
  • Deep 2.5 Gpts memory records the whole power-up window at full resolution
  • Single-shot & Sequence capture for one-time power-up events
  • 12-bit resolution & 140 µVrms noise reveal small rail disturbances
  • Essential for multi-rail SoC, FPGA and SoM board bring-up

Three-phase & power analysis

With up to eight channels and built-in power tools, the SDS5000X HD is at home on a power-electronics or motor-drive bench — including full single- and three-phase analysis that normally needs a dedicated analyser.

  • Single- and three-phase power measurement
  • Switching loss, SOA, harmonics and efficiency
  • Inrush current, ripple, dv/dt and di/dt
  • Bode plot for control-loop and filter characterisation
  • Up to 8 channels capture all phases & rails at once
  • Ideal for inverters, drives and PSU development
Three-phase and power analysis
8 channels, 16-ch MSO and 2.5 Gpts memory

8 channels, 16-ch MSO & 2.5 Gpts memory

This is a high-channel-count platform. Choose 4, 6 or 8 analog channels, add a 16-channel logic probe for mixed-signal work, and capture enormous records without dropping sample rate.

  • 4, 6 or 8 analog channels + EXT trigger
  • 16-channel MSO via the SPL2016 logic probe (up to 1.25 GSa/s)
  • Up to 2.5 Gpts record length per channel
  • 160,000 wfm/s (650,000 in Sequence mode) catches rare events
  • Correlate power, control and serial buses in one acquisition
  • SDS5000L low-profile variants for rack/ATE systems

Frequently asked questions

What makes the SDS5000X HD different?

It combines a true 12-bit ADC with a high channel count (4, 6 or 8 analog channels), an ultra-low 140 µVrms noise floor and up to 2.5 Gpts of memory — so you see fine detail across many channels over very long captures.

How many channels can it have?

4, 6 or 8 analog channels depending on model, plus 16 digital channels with the optional SPL2016 logic probe for mixed-signal work.

How deep is the memory?

Up to 2.5 Gpts per channel in quarter-channel mode, 1 Gpts in half-channel mode and 500 Mpts in full-channel mode — among the deepest in its class.

Is it 8-bit or 12-bit?

12-bit native, extendable to 16-bit effective resolution in HiRes mode, with a 140 µVrms noise floor for clean low-level measurements.

Can it do power and three-phase analysis?

Yes — built-in power analysis covers single- and three-phase measurements, switching loss, harmonics and efficiency, complemented by Bode plotting.

What is the SDS5000L?

A low-profile, screen-less 8-channel variant of the same platform — controlled over HDMI and web — for rack and ATE installations.
