SDS7304A H12 — 3 GHz 12-bit oscilloscope

The SDS7304A H12 is the entry into Siglent’s flagship platform: 3 GHz, four channels, a genuine 12-bit ADC and 20 GSa/s — the same workstation-class chassis, display and analysis software as the 8 GHz model, at a third of the price.

Behind the 15.6″ full-HD touchscreen sits a real Linux workstation — Core i3 or better with 32 GB of memory — which is what lets a 32 Mpts FFT, eye-diagram analysis and full Ethernet compliance testing run on the scope. SPO technology paints up to a million waveforms a second, and every advanced function is a software licence rather than a new instrument.

What “H12” (A model) means for channel count

The A models share their converters: 20 GSa/s across two channels, 10 GSa/s across three or four. For one- and two-channel work that costs you nothing. If you routinely need all four at full speed, look at the SDS7604AP. In return, the A models include Spectrum Analyzer mode (RTSA / DDC), which the AP does not.

Analysis that usually needs a second instrument

Licensed software running on the scope’s own workstation hardware — not on your PC afterwards.

Eye diagram and jitter analysis

Eye diagram & jitter analysis

A colour-graded eye built from the captured signal with the full jitter breakdown beneath it — TJ, RJ, DJ and the rest — so you can separate a random noise problem from a deterministic one. The measurement that decides whether a high-speed link ships.

Power analysis

Power analysis

Switching loss, harmonics against the limit line, modulation, inrush and safe-operating area, computed on the instrument with the harmonic table beside the waveform. Deskew the probes with the DF2001A first — a few hundred picoseconds of skew is the difference between a real loss number and a fictional one.

Ethernet and USB compliance

Ethernet & USB compliance

Automated pass/fail against the standard’s own template: 100BASE-T, 1000BASE-T, automotive 100BASE-T1 and 1000BASE-T1, and USB 2.0.

Serial trigger and decode

Serial trigger & decode

I²C, SPI, UART, CAN and LIN are standard. CAN FD, CAN XL, FlexRay, I²S, MIL-STD-1553B, SENT, Manchester, ARINC429, USB 2.0, SpaceWire, SPMI, 8B/10B and MIPI RFFE are licences.

Built-in 50 MHz generator

Built-in 50 MHz generator

The FG licence enables an internal arbitrary/function generator — 50 MHz, 125 MSa/s, 16 kpts — for stimulus-response work and Bode plots without a separate source.

Application examples

High-speed serial and digital design

3 GHz with 12-bit resolution resolves the amplitude detail an 8-bit scope loses in quantisation noise — and the eye-diagram and jitter licence turns that capture into a pass/fail answer about your link.

Embedded and mixed-signal systems

Add the SPL2016 for 16 digital channels at 1 GSa/s and correlate firmware activity with the analog rails and buses it drives — on one timebase, one screen.

Power electronics

The power-analysis licence measures switching loss, harmonics and safe-operating area on-instrument. Use the DF2001A deskew fixture first — at these edge rates, probe skew is the dominant error in any loss figure you quote.

Compliance before the test house

Licences for 100BASE-T, 1000BASE-T, automotive 100BASE-T1 / 1000BASE-T1 and USB 2.0 run the standard’s own masks with an automated pass/fail verdict, so surprises happen on your bench instead.

Spectrum work without a second box

Spectrum Analyzer mode (RTSA / DDC) is available on the A models, so an EMI hunt or a modulation check does not mean unplugging everything and fetching an analyser.
