Siglent SLA1016 16 Channel logic probe module
The Siglent SLA1016 Logic Probe set for Siglent's affordable entry-to-mid-range 4-channel oscilloscopes — adds 16 digital channels so you can view, trigger and decode digital buses alongside the analog signals (MSO).
Compatibility — supported oscilloscopes
The SLA1016 is designed for specific scope families. It is not interchangeable with the other logic probe — make sure your model is in the supported list below.
- SDS1000X-E (4-channel, e.g. SDS1104X-E / SDS1204X-E)
- SDS2000X-E (4-channel)
- SDS800X HD (all models)
- SDS1000X HD (all models)
- Requires SLA1016 firmware v8.2.3 or newer for the SDS800X HD and SDS1000X HD series.
- Requires SLA1016 firmware v8.1.16 for the SDS1000X-E and SDS2000X-E series.
- The oscilloscope firmware must meet a minimum version (typically ≥ v1.1.0.2 on HD series; specific versions on the X-E series) — always check Siglent's current firmware page.
- On older SDS1000X-E units a separate software license (SDS1000X-E-16LA or equivalent) was historically required; with recent firmware (especially HD and updated X-E models) the logic license is now often included or no longer needed.
Support can change with firmware updates — always verify your exact model and its current firmware on Siglent's official firmware download page before ordering, or contact us with your model number.
Installation & setup
To work fully, the SLA1016 needs the correct digital firmware in addition to the oscilloscope's main system firmware. The latest release, v8.2.3 (January 2024), added support for the SDS1000X HD and SDS800X HD series; the earlier v8.1.16 (May 2019) optimised the FPGA and fixed MSO measurement bugs. Versions older than v8.1.16 are tied to specific scope firmware and must be upgraded in stages.

Step by step
- 1Check first: note your oscilloscope's current firmware version (System Info) before changing anything.
- 2If your SLA1016 firmware is older than v8.1.16, update the probe first on an older compatible scope (SDS1000X-E < v6.1.33 or SDS2000X-E < v1.1.18) — then continue.
- 3Copy the correct SLA1016 firmware onto a FAT32-formatted USB stick.
- 4On the scope, open Digital → System → Upgrade and run the update from the USB stick.
- 5After the SLA1016 is updated, you can safely upgrade the oscilloscope to its latest firmware.
Firmware compatibility
| Oscilloscope series | SLA1016 firmware | Min. scope firmware |
|---|---|---|
| SDS1000X HD / SDS800X HD | v8.2.3 | ≥ v1.1.0.2 |
| SDS2000X-E | v8.1.16 | ≥ v1.1.19R2 |
| SDS1000X-E | v8.1.16 | ≥ v6.1.33 |
Always check your scope's firmware version before upgrading the SLA1016, and match the table above. Versions earlier than v8.1.16 are only compatible with specific scope firmware and must be upgraded in stages.

In the box
- SLA1016 probe unit — main 16-channel logic probe module
- SUBS interface cable — connects the probe to the oscilloscope's digital input port
- Flat wire cable — for grouped digital channel connections
- Flying wire leads — for individual channel access and ground connections
- Probe clips — for attaching the flying leads to test points
With the SLA1016 fitted and the MSO option enabled, your scope shows 16 timed digital channels alongside the analog traces — ideal for embedded debug and decoding I²C, SPI, UART, CAN, LIN and more in step with the analog behaviour.
