Siglent SDS2000HD-ARINC ARINC 429 Decode Licence for SDS2000X HD Oscilloscopes
Siglent SDS2000HD-ARINC: ARINC 429 decode key for SDS2000X HD oscilloscopes. 12.5-100 kbit/s, label, SDI, data and SSM in a table. Software licence.
SDS2000HD-ARINC — ARINC 429 decode for the SDS2000X HD
A software key that makes the SDS2000X HD decode ARINC 429 words: label, SDI, data and SSM are shown under the waveform and listed word by word in a table.
ARINC 429 is the point-to-point data bus of civil avionics: 32-bit words on a twisted pair, sent as bipolar return-to-zero pulses at 12.5 or 100 kbit/s. A protocol analyser tells you what the word says. An oscilloscope with a decoder tells you that and shows the pulse that carried it — amplitude, rise time, the null between bits — which is where a marginal transmitter or a damaged harness shows up first.
The decoder reads the bus from one analogue channel, accepts any rate from 12.5 to 100 kbit/s with a tolerance window of 1 to 20 %, and can split each word as label / SDI / data / SSM, label / data / SSM or label / data. It is a decode key: the oscilloscope does not trigger on ARINC 429 content.

What the key adds
Word table
Time, label in octal, SDI, data, SSM and an error column for every word in the acquisition.
12.5 to 100 kbit/s
Low-speed and high-speed buses, with a selectable tolerance of 1 to 20 % on the bit rate.
Three word formats
L/SDI/D/SSM, L/D/SSM or L/D — chosen to match how the equipment under test uses the SDI and SSM fields.
Signal and data together
12-bit resolution on the bipolar pulses themselves, with the decoded word aligned underneath.
Which oscilloscope it is for
Both models of the SDS2000X HD series, and an SDS2104X HD you already own. Keys for other Siglent series have their own order codes and are not interchangeable.
ARINC 429 is a differential bus and the decoder takes one analogue channel as its source. Measure line A against line B with a differential probe so that the channel sees the bipolar signal; a single-ended probe on one wire shows half the swing against ground. Not sure which probe? Ask us.

How it is delivered
1 · Send us the serial number
A software key is generated for one instrument. Add the serial number to the order, or mail it afterwards.
2 · Receive the key
The licence key is delivered by e-mail — nothing is shipped and nothing leaves your bench.
3 · Enter it on the oscilloscope
Enter the key in the options menu; the decoder appears in the list of protocols and stays with that unit.
Questions about the SDS2000HD-ARINC
Can the oscilloscope trigger on an ARINC 429 label?
No. The data sheet specifies ARINC 429 on this series as decode only. Trigger on the edge or the pulse and read the word in the table. If you need a triggered avionics bus, MIL-STD-1553B has trigger and decode with the SDS2000HD-1553B key.
Why does this key cost more than the other decode keys?
That is Siglent’s list price: €458 for ARINC 429 against €258 for the other serial options of the series.
Does it work on the digital channels?
No. The source is an analogue channel, C1 to C4 — the bus is bipolar and needs an analogue input.
Which bandwidth do I need?
Either model. At 100 kbit/s the fastest edges of the bus are far below the bandwidth of the 200 MHz model; what matters here is the 12-bit resolution on the pulse shape.
What do you need from me?
The serial number of the oscilloscope. The key is generated for that instrument only.
Decoding ARINC 429 on a new oscilloscope?
Tell us the bus, the bit rate and what else is on the bench. We quote the SDS2000X HD with the keys and probes as one set.
