Siglent SDS2000HD-Manch Manchester Decode Licence for SDS2000X HD Oscilloscopes
Siglent SDS2000HD-Manch: Manchester decode key for SDS2000X HD oscilloscopes. 500 bit/s to 5 Mbit/s from an analogue channel. Decode only.
SDS2000HD-Manch — Manchester decode for the SDS2000X HD
A software key that makes the SDS2000X HD decode Manchester-coded serial data from 500 bit/s to 5 Mbit/s: the bits are read out under the waveform and in a table.
Manchester coding puts the clock into the data: every bit is a transition in the middle of the bit period, rising for one value and falling for the other. A link coded this way needs no clock line and no DC path, which is why it turns up in lighting control, RFID, industrial sensors and older telemetry — and why it is tiring to read on a screen, because half of the edges are data and half are not.
The decoder does the reading. It takes the signal from an analogue channel, recovers the bits at the rate you set and lists them. It is a decode key: the oscilloscope does not trigger on Manchester content, so you capture with an edge, pulse-width or pattern trigger and let the decoder work on what was captured.

What the key adds
Decoded data
Annotated under the waveform and listed in a table with a time stamp per entry.
500 bit/s to 5 Mbit/s
From slow lighting buses to megabit telemetry links.
Signal and data together
The coded waveform at 12-bit resolution, with its decode on the same time axis.
Two decoders at once
Manchester next to UART or SPI, for a gateway or a protocol converter.
Which oscilloscope it is for
Both models of the SDS2000X HD series, and an SDS2104X HD you already own. Keys for other Siglent series have their own order codes and are not interchangeable.
The SDS2000X HD decodes Manchester data but does not trigger on it. Use an edge, pulse-width or pattern trigger — a pulse-width trigger on the idle gap before a frame works well — and read the frame in the table. For MIL-STD-1553B, which is Manchester-coded too, the SDS2000HD-1553B key has trigger and decode.

From the SDS2000X HD data sheet EN02B. I²C, SPI, UART, CAN and LIN trigger and decode are standard on the series; all other protocols are listed on the licences page.
How it is delivered
1 · Send us the serial number
A software key is generated for one instrument. Add the serial number to the order, or mail it afterwards.
2 · Receive the key
The licence key is delivered by e-mail — nothing is shipped and nothing leaves your bench.
3 · Enter it on the oscilloscope
Enter the key in the options menu; the decoder appears in the list of protocols and stays with that unit.
Questions about the SDS2000HD-Manch
Can the oscilloscope trigger on Manchester data?
No. Siglent specifies Manchester on this series as decode only. Trigger on the signal and read the data in the capture.
Which bit rates does it cover?
500 bit/s to 5 Mbit/s.
Does it work on the digital channels?
No. The source is an analogue channel, C1 to C4.
Does it decode DALI, or a specific Manchester-based protocol?
It decodes the Manchester bit stream. The data sheet does not list protocol-specific framing such as DALI commands, so expect bits and bytes rather than named commands.
Which bandwidth do I need?
Either model; 5 Mbit/s is far inside the bandwidth of the SDS2204X HD.
What do you need from me?
The serial number of the oscilloscope. The key is generated for that instrument only.
Decoding Manchester on a new oscilloscope?
Tell us the bus, the bit rate and what else is on the bench. We quote the SDS2000X HD with the keys and probes as one set.
