SDS2104X HD — 100 MHz, 4 channels, 12-bit

The SDS2104X HD is the 100 MHz model of Siglent’s mid-range SDS2000X HD series — a 4-channel, 12-bit oscilloscope that brings high-resolution acquisition and a full analysis toolset to a real-world bench budget. Its 12-bit ADC and low-noise front end resolve small signals, ripple and subtle distortion that an 8-bit scope buries in quantisation noise.

Performance backs up the resolution: 2 GSa/s sampling, up to 200 Mpts of memory and a 100,000 wfm/s capture rate, on a 10.1" capacitive multi-touch display. Built-in Bode plot, power analysis and 2 Mpts FFT, plus an optional 16-channel MSO and built-in 25 MHz generator, make it a complete bench — and its bandwidth is license-upgradable up to 500 MHz, so the instrument grows with your work.

Analysis tools built in

Far more than a scope — loop measurement and power analysis run directly on the instrument.

Bode Plot II — loop response on the scope

Bode Plot II — loop response on the scope

Connect a Siglent SDG generator (or the SAG1021 module) over USB or LAN and the scope takes over: it sweeps the stimulus through your injection transformer, measures both sides of the injection resistor, and plots loop gain and phase against frequency — with phase margin and gain margin read out automatically. The Vari-Level profile lowers the stimulus amplitude around the crossover region so a sensitive loop is never overdriven, and the result exports as CSV for the design report. The same engine characterises filters and amplifiers: magnitude and phase response in one automated pass, no frequency-response analyzer required.

Power analysis — a power-electronics workbench

Power analysis — a power-electronics workbench

The SDS2000HD-PA licence turns captures into power numbers: power quality and line-current harmonics, inrush current, switching loss with turn-on/turn-off energies, dv/dt and di/dt slew rates, modulation analysis, output ripple and safe-operating-area testing against your device limits. Paired with a differential voltage probe and a current probe (deskewed with the DF2001A fixture), the 12-bit resolution pays off exactly where power measurement hurts most — resolving millivolt ripple and switching detail on top of large swings, so efficiency and loss figures are built on honest waveforms.

12-bit high resolution

12-bit high resolution

A true 12-bit ADC reveals fine detail, small signals and low-level ripple with far less quantisation noise than an 8-bit scope.

Built-in waveform generator

Built-in waveform generator

An optional built-in 25 MHz arbitrary/function generator adds stimulus without an extra box on the bench.

Application examples

Embedded bring-up and debug

Four analog channels plus standard I2C/SPI/UART/CAN/LIN decode cover a small board end to end: watch the rail, the reset line and two buses in one acquisition, with 12-bit resolution exposing the glitches an 8-bit scope rounds off. Add the SPL2016 logic probe when the digital side grows.

Power-rail and ripple measurements

With 70 uVrms of front-end noise and 12 bits of resolution, millivolt ripple on a 3.3 V rail is measured, not guessed. Bode Plot II drives a Siglent generator to plot loop response and PSRR directly on the scope.

Education and research labs

Touch operation, web control for remote teaching, and a full analysis toolset (FFT, mask test, histograms) at the entry price of the 12-bit mid-range — with 200 Mpts of memory for real experiments, not textbook snippets.

A bench that grows

Start at 100 MHz today; a software licence takes the same instrument to 200, 350 or 500 MHz later. The MSO, AWG and decode options install the same way — no hardware swap, no recalibration downtime.

Service and repair work

History mode replays the acquisitions leading up to a fault, deep memory holds long stretches of a misbehaving signal, and the built-in DVM and counter give quick numeric answers — while standard decode reads out the buses of the board on the bench.
