Siglent SDS2000HD-BW2T5 Bandwidth Upgrade 200 MHz to 500 MHz for SDS2204X HD (software licence)
Siglent SDS2000HD-BW2T5: software key that upgrades an SDS2204X HD oscilloscope from 200 MHz to 500 MHz (interleaved) in one step. No hardware change.
SDS2000HD-BW2T5 — upgrade an SDS2204X HD to 500 MHz
A software key that takes an SDS2204X HD from 200 MHz to the top of the series in one step: 500 MHz in interleaving mode, 350 MHz with all four channels on.
The SDS2000X HD has two converters, each shared by a pair of channels. With one channel of a pair switched on, that channel gets the whole converter: 2 GSa/s, and after this upgrade 500 MHz of bandwidth. With both channels of a pair on, each samples at 1 GSa/s and the bandwidth is 350 MHz. So the key gives you a 500 MHz oscilloscope for two signals — C1 or C2, and C3 or C4 — and a 350 MHz oscilloscope for four.
That matches how fast signals are usually measured: one or two channels on the edges that matter, the others added when the timing between slower signals is the question. The supplied probes are rated 500 MHz, so nothing else has to be bought.

What the key adds
500 MHz in interleaving mode
One channel of each pair (C1/C2 and C3/C4) at 2 GSa/s with the full 500 MHz.
350 MHz on all four channels
With both channels of a pair on, the bandwidth is 350 MHz at 1 GSa/s per channel.
Software only
Issued for the serial number; no hardware change and no recalibration.
One step
The same result as the BW2T3 and BW3T5 keys together, in a single activation.
Which oscilloscope it is for
The one-step key for the 200 MHz model. An SDS2354X HD takes the SDS2000HD-BW3T5 key instead. Keys for other Siglent series have their own order codes and are not interchangeable.
With one channel of each pair on (C1 or C2, C3 or C4) the bandwidth is 500 MHz. Switch the second channel of a pair on and that pair runs at 350 MHz. This is how Siglent specifies the series, for the upgrade keys and in the data sheet alike; it is not a restriction of this key.
What it costs against the alternative
| SDS2204X HD + this key | €2,280 + €1,880 = €4,160 |
| SDS2354X HD + SDS2000HD-BW3T5 | €2,880 + €1,100 = €3,980 |
| Difference | €180 more starting from the 200 MHz model |
Prices ex VAT. On an SDS2204X HD you already own, this key costs the same as the two single steps (BW2T3 + BW3T5 = €1,880).
Specification
| Applies to | SDS2204X HD |
| Bandwidth before | 200 MHz |
| Bandwidth after, interleaving mode | 500 MHz — one channel of each pair C1/C2 and C3/C4 active, 2 GSa/s |
| Bandwidth after, non-interleaving mode | 350 MHz — both channels of a pair active, 1 GSa/s per channel |
| Noise floor at 500 MHz bandwidth | 70 µVrms |
| Bandwidth limit filters | 20 MHz and 200 MHz remain selectable per channel |
| Unchanged | 12-bit, 200 Mpts/ch, all installed options; supplied probes are rated 500 MHz |
| Hardware change | None — software key; the instrument keeps its calibration |
| Delivery | Licence key for the instrument’s serial number |
From the SDS2000X HD data sheet EN02B. I²C, SPI, UART, CAN and LIN trigger and decode are standard on the series; all other protocols are listed on the licences page.
How it is delivered
1 · Send us the serial number
A software key is generated for one instrument. Add the serial number to the order, or mail it afterwards.
2 · Receive the key
The licence key is delivered by e-mail — nothing is shipped and nothing leaves your bench.
3 · Enter it on the oscilloscope
Enter the key in the options menu; the new bandwidth is shown in the instrument’s system information and stays with that unit.
Questions about the SDS2000HD-BW2T5
Do I get 500 MHz on all four channels?
No. 500 MHz applies in interleaving mode: one channel of each pair, C1 or C2 and C3 or C4. With both channels of a pair on, the bandwidth is 350 MHz. That is the specification of the series, not of the key.
One step or two?
On an instrument you own, this key at €1,880 costs the same as the BW2T3 and BW3T5 keys together (€1,880). Take the two-step route only if 350 MHz is enough for now.
Is it cheaper to buy a 350 MHz model and upgrade that?
When buying new, yes: an SDS2354X HD plus the BW3T5 key comes to €3,980, an SDS2204X HD plus this key to €4,160 — €180 more.
Does the instrument have to be sent in?
No. It is a software key; the oscilloscope stays on your bench and keeps its calibration.
Do I need other probes?
No. The supplied passive probes are rated 500 MHz. For the cleanest 500 MHz measurement use the 50 Ω input or keep the ground lead of the probe as short as possible.
What do you need from me?
The serial number of the oscilloscope. The key is generated for that instrument only.
Not sure which bandwidth key your oscilloscope takes?
Send us the model and serial number and tell us the fastest edge you need to see. We confirm the right key before anything is ordered.
