SSG3000X Plus-PT — programmable pulse trains

A software key that turns the standard pulse modulator of any SSG3000X Plus into a pulse train generator: a list of up to 2,047 pulses, each with its own on-time, off-time and repeat count.

Pulse modulation is standard on the series — a single pulse or a double pulse, repeated. That covers a duty-cycle test, but not a radar PRI stagger, a burst followed by a gap, or a frame with slots of different length. The PT option adds the list: every row defines one pulse (on-time and off-time from 20 ns to 300 s in 10 ns steps) and how often it repeats (1 to 65,535 times) before the next row starts.

The carrier, level and edges are those of the instrument: 9 kHz to 2.1 or 3.2 GHz, rise and fall below 50 ns, on/off ratio above 68 dBc from 250 MHz. The train can be started automatically, by key, by an external trigger or gate, or over the bus, and the pulse signal is available on the rear PULSE IN/OUT connector for the oscilloscope.

What the key adds

Up to 2,047 pulses per train

Each pulse is one row: on-time, off-time, repetitions. Long patterns are built from a handful of rows.

1 to 65,535 repetitions per pulse

A row can be a single event or a long burst — a 10 kHz burst of 1,000 pulses is one line.

20 ns to 300 s, 10 ns resolution

The same timing range as the standard pulse generator, for on- and off-time alike.

Triggered or free-running

Auto, key, external trigger, external gate or bus — the train starts when the test needs it.

Which instrument it is for

One key covers one instrument; the same order code applies to all four models.

Not for the SSG3000X

The earlier SSG3000X series has its own key, SSG3000X-PT. The two order codes are not interchangeable — check the model name on the front panel: this key needs “Plus”.

How it is delivered

1 · Send us the serial number

A software key is generated for one instrument. Add the serial number to the order, or mail it afterwards.

2 · Receive the key

The licence key is delivered by e-mail — nothing is shipped and nothing leaves your bench.

3 · Enter it on the instrument

Enter the key in the generator’s option menu; the function is available immediately and stays with that unit.

Questions about the SSG3000X Plus-PT

Is pulse modulation not already included?

Yes — single and double pulse are standard on every SSG3000X Plus. This key adds the pulse train: a programmable list of different pulses played in sequence.

Which models does it fit?

All four: SSG3021X Plus, SSG3032X Plus, SSG3021X-IQE Plus and SSG3032X-IQE Plus. One key per instrument.

Can I add it later?

Yes. It is a software key issued against the instrument’s serial number; nothing is returned to the factory and nothing is recalibrated.

How long can a train be?

Up to 2,047 different pulses, each repeated up to 65,535 times, with on- and off-times from 20 ns to 300 s.

Does it work on my SSG3000X (without Plus)?

No. The SSG3000X uses the SSG3000X-PT key. The codes differ and a key for one series does not activate on the other.

Not sure which key your generator takes?

Send us the model name and serial number. We will confirm the right order code — Plus or not, IQE or not — before anything is ordered.
