SDS6000A · Bandwidth upgrade

SDS6000-4BW20 — 1 GHz to 2 GHz, SDS6000A

Software licence — activated by key, no hardware

Raises the guaranteed analogue bandwidth to the next model in the series, by key — no hardware change.

A bandwidth upgrade is a licence, not a board swap. The analogue front end is already capable of the higher bandwidth; the licence removes the limit in firmware. The instrument stays on your bench, keeps its serial number and calibration history, and the change takes effect as soon as the code is entered.

What this option does

What it does

A software key that raises the instrument's guaranteed analogue bandwidth to the next model in the series. The hardware is already built to the higher specification — the front end, ADC and acquisition path are identical — so the upgrade is applied by entering a key rather than by returning the instrument or changing any part.

What you use it for

Buy the bandwidth you need today and raise it later when a project demands more, instead of over-specifying at purchase or replacing a working instrument.

In practice

A team buys the 200 MHz model for power-supply work. Two years later the same bench takes on a DDR memory bus with 1 ns edges, which needs roughly five times the bandwidth to see the corners honestly. The key arrives by email and the scope is running at the higher specification the same morning — no shipping, no recalibration, no second instrument.

Questions about SDS6000-4BW20

Which instrument does SDS6000-4BW20 fit?

The SDS6104A — the 1 GHz model. After the key is entered it is the SDS6204A. The SDS6000A keys do not fit the SDS6000L, which has its own options.

Do I need different probes after the upgrade?

The SP3150A probes supplied with the SDS6000A are rated 500 MHz. At 2 GHz the probe sets the system bandwidth, so use an active probe such as the SAP1000 (1 GHz) or SAP2500 (2.5 GHz), or a 50 Ω input with a cable, wherever the full bandwidth matters.

Can I go from 500 MHz straight to 2 GHz?

Siglent sell the two steps separately: SDS6000-4BW10 takes the SDS6054A to 1 GHz, SDS6000-4BW20 takes the SDS6104A to 2 GHz. A 500 MHz instrument needs both keys, entered in that order.

Does the upgrade affect calibration?

The instrument keeps its serial number and its calibration history. If your quality system requires a calibration after a specification change, we can arrange ISO or DKD/DAkkS calibration.

How is the licence delivered?

Supplied as a licence key issued against the instrument's serial number. There is no hardware to fit and nothing to return: the code is entered in the instrument's own menu and the function is available immediately, on the instrument you already own. Add the instrument’s serial number to your order, or send it to us afterwards — the key is issued against it.

Can I return a licence?

Software licences and activation keys are delivered electronically and are excluded from the 14-day EU return right once the key has been issued. If you are unsure which key you need, ask us first — with your serial number we can confirm it.

Not sure this is the right key?

Send us your serial number and what you want to measure. We will confirm the exact option before you order.
