Siglent SDS5000L-CANFD CAN FD trigger & decode
Siglent SDS5000L-CANFD is a CAN FD trigger and decode — nominal rate to 1 Mbps, data phase to 10 Mbps. For the SDS5000L. ( license option )
SDS5000L-CANFD — CAN FD trigger & decode
CAN FD trigger and decode — nominal rate to 1 Mbps, data phase to 10 Mbps.
Supplied as a licence key issued against the instrument's serial number. There is no hardware to fit and nothing to return: the code is entered in the instrument's own menu and the function is available immediately, on the instrument you already own.

What this option does
What it does
Adds CAN FD triggering and decoding. Triggers on frame start, remote frame, ID, ID plus data, or error. Decodes with nominal bit rates from 10 kbps to 1 Mbps and data-phase rates from 500 kbps to 10 Mbps, or custom rates, from the analogue channels.
What you use it for
Automotive and industrial networks, where a fault usually lives in the relationship between the bus traffic and the analogue behaviour of the network, not in either alone.
In practice
An ECU intermittently drops off the bus under load. Triggering on an error frame captures the moment it happens, with the supply rail on another channel sagging at the same instant — a power problem, not a protocol one.
Trigger and decode details
From the SDS5000X HD / SDS5000L data sheet EN01A.
| Trigger types | Start, Remote, ID, ID + Data, Error |
| Nominal bit rate | 10 kbps to 1 Mbps, or custom |
| Data-phase bit rate | 500 kbps to 10 Mbps, or custom |
| Decode from | Analogue channels C1–C8 |
| Decoders at once | 2, full duplex |
| Standard on every SDS5000L | I²C, SPI, UART, CAN, LIN — no key needed |
| Digital inputs | None — the SDS5000L decodes from its eight analogue channels |

Questions about SDS5000L-CANFD
Does the SDS5000L have digital channels for this?
No. The SDS5000L has no digital inputs; every decoder reads the analogue channels C1 to C8. The SPL2016 logic probe fits the SDS5000X HD bench models, not the SDS5000L.
Which protocols are already included?
I²C, SPI, UART, CAN and LIN trigger and decode are standard on every SDS5000L. CAN FD, FlexRay, I²S, MIL-STD-1553B, SENT, ARINC 429 and Manchester are keys. Up to two decoders run at the same time.
How is the licence delivered?
Supplied as a licence key issued against the instrument's serial number. There is no hardware to fit and nothing to return: the code is entered in the instrument's own menu and the function is available immediately, on the instrument you already own. Add the instrument’s serial number to your order, or send it to us afterwards — the key is issued against it.
Can I return a licence?
Software licences and activation keys are delivered electronically and are excluded from the 14-day EU return right once the key has been issued. If you are unsure which key you need, ask us first — with your serial number we can confirm it.
Not sure this is the right key?
Send us your serial number and what you want to measure. We will confirm the exact option before you order.
