Siglent TBWA2 Wideband Amplifier (20 dB / 40 dB)

Low-Noise 30 kHz – 6 GHz Preamplifier for EMC Near-Field Probes

The Tekbox TBWA2 is a compact, low-noise wideband RF amplifier designed to increase the dynamic range and sensitivity of EMC pre-compliance measurements. Used between an EMC near-field probe and a spectrum analyzer, the TBWA2 significantly improves weak signal detection across a wide frequency range up to 6 GHz .

Available in 20 dB and 40 dB gain versions, the TBWA2 is ideal for engineers performing radiated emissions troubleshooting, RF immunity testing, and contactless signal analysis in R&D and production environments.

Why Use the TBWA2 Wideband Amplifier?

When performing EMC near-field measurements, small emissions can be difficult to detect due to analyzer noise floor limitations. The TBWA2:

  • Increases measurement sensitivity

  • Expands usable dynamic range

  • Improves signal-to-noise ratio

  • Enables more accurate RF diagnostics

It is specifically designed to be connected between EMC probes and a spectrum analyzer to enhance measurement performance .

Wide Frequency Coverage: 30 kHz – 6 GHz

The TBWA2 operates across an ultra-wide frequency range up to 6 GHz, making it suitable for:

  • Switching power supply debugging

  • DC/DC converter emissions analysis

  • RF module troubleshooting

  • Wireless device development

  • Broadband EMC diagnostics

This wide coverage ensures compatibility with modern high-speed digital and RF systems.

Two Gain Options for Flexible Measurement Needs

TBWA2/20dB

  • Nominal gain approx. 20 dB across wide bandwidth

  • 1 dB compression point @ 2 GHz: +20 dBm

  • Noise figure @ 2 GHz: approx. 4.5–5 dB

  • Reverse isolation (S12): 23 dB (0.1–6 GHz)

Ideal for general EMC pre-compliance testing and moderate signal amplification.

TBWA2/40dB

  • Nominal gain approx. 40 dB across wide bandwidth

  • 1 dB compression point @ 2 GHz: +20 dBm

  • Noise figure @ 2 GHz: approx. 5 dB

  • Reverse isolation (S12): 40 dB (0.1–6 GHz)

Perfect for very low-level signal measurements and enhanced dynamic range.

Designed for EMC Pre-Compliance Testing

The TBWA2 is part of the EMC near-field probe system and supports applications such as:

  • Radiated EMC measurements

  • RF immunity testing

  • Contactless measurement of RF signal chains

  • Non-invasive oscillator and modulator analysis

It is commonly used with H-field (H20, H10, H5) and E-field (E5) probes to locate and identify interference sources on PCBs and electronic assemblies .

Technical Highlights

  • Frequency range: up to 6 GHz

  • 50 Ohm SMA input and output

  • USB powered (4.5–5 V via Mini-USB-B)

  • Compact size: 48 mm × 63 mm × 20 mm

  • Designed for use between probe and spectrum analyzer

Connection is simple:
EMC probe → TBWA2 input → TBWA2 output → spectrum analyzer, powered via USB .
