SDL1020X-E — 200 W DC electronic load
The SDL1020X-E sinks up to 200 W continuously from sources up to 150 V and 30 A — the programmable counterpart to your power supply. Whether the source is a bench PSU, a battery pack, a DC-DC converter or an LED driver, the load pulls exactly the current, voltage, resistance or power you program, and reads back the result at 1 mV / 1 mA resolution.
Four static modes (CC, CV, CR, CP) cover the basics; dynamic mode switches between two levels at up to 25 kHz with programmable slew rate for transient testing; and the List and Program functions sequence complete test profiles that run standalone. Battery-discharge testing with capacity logging, OCP/OPP protection verification, short-circuit simulation and a CR-LED mode for driver testing are built in — with remote sense, I/V monitor outputs, and USB, LAN and RS-232 with SCPI plus the free EasySDL software.

25 kHz transient testing — measured, not promised
This oscilloscope capture shows the dynamic mode doing exactly what the datasheet says: clean two-level current switching at 25 kHz. With programmable slew rate and continuous, pulse and toggle triggering, it reproduces the load steps your supply will face in the real system — CPU load spikes, motor starts, transmit bursts — and shows how far the output really droops.

Four ways to load a source
Constant current pulls a fixed amperage regardless of voltage — the standard for supply testing and battery discharge. Constant voltage forces the source to a set point, constant resistance emulates a passive load, and constant power holds wattage steady the way a real DC-DC input does. All four modes have programmable ranges, limits and protections.

List & Program: tests that run themselves
Chain load steps with individual levels, durations and slew rates into a List that triggers and repeats standalone — or build pass/fail auto-test sequences with the Program function and let the load report the verdict.



Battery, OCP/OPP, short & LED tests built in
Dedicated routines handle the jobs a plain load makes tedious: battery discharge with capacity logging and cut-off, automatic OCP/OPP trip-point ramps, short-circuit simulation, and a CR-LED mode that behaves like a real LED string.

Application examples
Power-supply load testing
Step, sweep and hold the exact operating points your supply must survive: static accuracy checks in CC and CR, transient response with the 25 kHz dynamic mode, and pass/fail verdicts from a sequenced List — the complete counterpart to the datasheet table.
Battery and pack discharge
Discharge at constant current or constant power while the load logs voltage, time and accumulated capacity, and stops automatically at the cut-off voltage — repeatable capacity numbers instead of stopwatch estimates.
Protection verification (OCP/OPP)
The built-in OCP and OPP test routines ramp the load until the supply's protection trips, then report the exact trip point — documented evidence that the protection works, at the level it should.
LED driver testing
The CR-LED mode models a diode's V-I behaviour instead of a plain resistance, so constant-current LED drivers start, regulate and dim exactly as they will with the real string.
DC-DC converter characterisation
Load the converter across its whole envelope while the I/V monitor outputs stream the waveforms to your oscilloscope — efficiency maps, load-step response and current-share behaviour, all from one compact 200 W box.
