Siglent SDS5000HD-PA Power Analysis license option
Unlocks the SDS5000HD-PA Power Analysis option for switching loss, SOA, ripple, PSRR, inrush and efficiency — power measurement as a guided application. For the SDS5000X HD.
SDS5000HD-PA — Power analysis
Switching loss, SOA, ripple, PSRR, inrush and efficiency — power measurement as a guided application.
Supplied as a licence key issued against the instrument's serial number. There is no hardware to fit and nothing to return: the code is entered in the instrument's own menu and the function is available immediately, on the instrument you already own.

What this option does
What it does
Adds the power-analysis application. From a voltage channel and a current channel it measures power quality, current harmonics, inrush current, switching loss, slew rate, modulation, output ripple, turn-on and turn-off, transient response, PSRR, efficiency and safe operating area, with results tabulated rather than left to cursors.
What you use it for
Repeatable switching-converter measurements to a defined method, on an instrument whose 12-bit resolution keeps small signals readable next to large ones.
In practice
Qualifying a 48 V to 12 V converter across its load range: turn-on and turn-off loss per cycle, output ripple and PSRR, then efficiency at each load point — repeated identically on the next unit.
You need a high-voltage differential probe and a current probe. Their different propagation delays must be removed first — that is what the DF2001A deskew fixture is for.
What it measures
From the SDS5000X HD data sheet.
| Measurements | Power quality, current harmonics, inrush current, switching loss, slew rate, modulation, output ripple, turn-on / turn-off, transient response, PSRR, efficiency, SOA |
| Inputs | A voltage channel and a current channel per measurement |
| You also need | A high-voltage differential probe, a current probe and the DF2001A deskew fixture |
Compatibility
The option runs on every SDS5000X HD model, at every bandwidth and channel count.
| Channels | 350 MHz | 500 MHz | 1 GHz |

Questions about SDS5000HD-PA
What else do I need besides the licence?
A high-voltage differential probe for the voltage, a current probe for the current, and the DF2001A fixture to remove the delay between the two probes before you measure switching loss.
Is the harmonics result a compliance test?
It is a pre-compliance measurement: a reliable indication of where a design stands before it goes to an accredited test house, not a certificate.
Does it work on every SDS5000X HD?
Yes — the 4, 6 and 8-channel models at every bandwidth. With more channels you can measure more voltage and current pairs at the same time.
How is the licence delivered?
Supplied as a licence key issued against the instrument's serial number. There is no hardware to fit and nothing to return: the code is entered in the instrument's own menu and the function is available immediately, on the instrument you already own. Add the instrument’s serial number to your order, or send it to us afterwards — the key is issued against it.
Can I return a licence?
Software licences and activation keys are delivered electronically and are excluded from the 14-day EU return right once the key has been issued. If you are unsure which key you need, ask us first — with your serial number we can confirm it.
Not sure this is the right key?
Send us your serial number and what you want to measure. We will confirm the exact option before you order.
