SPS5000X-RMK — rack mount kit
A 19-inch, 3U rack mount kit for the SPS5000X series: six slots that take any mix of ⅙, ⅓ and ½-rack supplies side by side, with blank panels for the slots you leave free.
The SPS5000X supplies are built in three widths — 71, 142 and 214 mm, exactly one, two and three sixths of a 19-inch rack. This kit turns that into a system: a 3U frame with six slots, into which any combination of SPS5000X models is screwed from below, side by side, with every front panel and output terminal still accessible. Unused slots are closed with blank panels, so a rack can start with one supply and grow to six.

What it does
Mounts SPS5000X supplies in a standard EIA 19-inch rack, 3U high. The frame has six slots; each supply occupies one, two or three of them depending on its width, and five blank panels cover the slots that are not used.
What you use it for
Automated test systems, burn-in and production racks, and lab benches where several supplies are needed together — up to 2,160 W from single-channel models in 3U of rack space.
In practice
A test rack needs a 48 V bus, a 12 V auxiliary rail and a 5 V logic supply. An SPS5083X, an SPS5082X and an SPS5081X fill the six slots exactly, every output is programmable over LAN, and the whole set sits in one 3U panel instead of across a bench.
The supplies’ carrying handle and feet come off for rack mounting — keep them if a unit may go back on the bench. You need a Phillips screwdriver and a T20 Torx driver. The widths of the supplies in one kit must add up to six slots or fewer; the table below gives each model’s width. The kit is for SPS5000X models only; the 1U SPS6000X uses its own mounting.

Installation

1 · Remove handle and feet
Undo the screws that hold the carrying handle and the feet, and take both off each supply.
2 · Assemble the frame
Build the frame from the front, rear and top brackets, the two side plates and the rack flanges, using the screws in the kit.
3 · Fix the supplies
Set the supplies in their slots and secure each one from underneath with the PM4×8 screws.
4 · Close the free slots
Fit a blank panel in every unused slot with the PM3×6 and KM3×6 screws.
5 · Into the rack
Mount the assembly in the 19-inch cabinet by its flanges.

Questions about the SPS5000X-RMK
How many supplies fit in one kit?
Up to six, as long as their widths add up to six slots or fewer: single-channel 180 W and 360 W models take one slot, 720 W and two-channel models take two, 1080 W and three-channel models take three.
Can I mix models?
Yes. Any combination of SPS5000X models fits, including different voltages and channel counts — for example a 1080 W, a 720 W and a 360 W unit together.
What happens to the handle and feet?
They are removed before the supply goes into the frame. Keep them: refitting them returns the supply to bench use.
Do I need special tools?
A Phillips screwdriver and a T20 Torx driver. All screws are in the kit.
Are the front panels and terminals still usable?
Yes. The supplies sit with their fronts flush in the frame, so display, keys, USB port, power switch and front output terminals stay accessible.
Can I start with one supply and add more later?
Yes. Close the free slots with the blank panels now, and replace a panel with a supply when you add one.
Can supplies in the kit run in series or parallel?
Mounting does not change that: identical SPS5000X models can be connected in series or parallel as usual, with the SPS5000X-SEC and SPS5000X-PAC cables.
Does it fit the SPS6000X?
No. The SPS6000X is a 1U, full-width 19-inch supply with its own mounting; this kit is for the SPS5000X only.
