Siglent SDS5000HD-8BW5TA 8-ch, 500 MHz to 1 GHz bandwidth upgrade (software)
Raises the analogue bandwidth from 500 MHz to 1 GHz by key. For the 8-channel SDS5000X HD.
SDS5000HD-8BW5TA — 500 MHz to 1 GHz, 8-channel
Raises the analogue bandwidth from 500 MHz to 1 GHz by key.
A bandwidth upgrade is a licence, not a board swap. The analogue front end is already capable of the higher bandwidth; the licence removes the limit in firmware. The instrument stays on your bench, keeps its serial number and calibration history, and the change takes effect as soon as the code is entered.

What this option does
What it does
A software key that turns a 500 MHz SDS5000X HD into the 1 GHz model, entered on the instrument with no part changed. There is one key per channel count — 4, 6 or 8 channels — so order the one that matches your instrument.
What you use it for
1 GHz is the bandwidth for fast digital interfaces and wide-bandgap switching, where edges are measured in hundreds of picoseconds.
In practice
Measuring the switching edge of a GaN half-bridge, where the real transition is well under a nanosecond. Doubling the bandwidth roughly halves the oscilloscope’s own rise time, so far less of the measured edge belongs to the instrument.
⚠ The supplied passive probes are rated 500 MHz. At 1 GHz the probe, not the oscilloscope, then sets the system bandwidth — use the SP6150A 1.5 GHz passive probe on a 50 Ω input, or an active probe, wherever the full 1 GHz matters.

Compatibility
This key fits exactly one instrument. Find yours in the table: the row is the channel count, the column the bandwidth it has today.

The SDS5000L low-profile models have their own option keys. The 6-channel models are supplied on request.

Questions about SDS5000HD-8BW5TA
Which instrument does SDS5000HD-8BW5TA fit?
The SDS5058X HD — the 8-channel, 500 MHz model. After the key is entered it is the SDS5108X HD. The keys are specific to the channel count, so a 8-channel key does not suit a 4, 6 or 8-channel instrument other than its own; the SDS5000L has keys of its own.
Do I need different probes after the upgrade?
For measurements that need the full 1 GHz, yes. The probes supplied with the instrument are rated 500 MHz, so above that the probe sets the system bandwidth. Use the SP6150A 1.5 GHz passive probe on a 50 Ω input, or an active probe.
Does the upgrade affect calibration?
The instrument keeps its serial number and its calibration history. If your quality system requires a calibration after a specification change, we can arrange ISO or DKD/DAkkS calibration.
How is the licence delivered?
Supplied as a licence key issued against the instrument's serial number. There is no hardware to fit and nothing to return: the code is entered in the instrument's own menu and the function is available immediately, on the instrument you already own. Add the instrument’s serial number to your order, or send it to us afterwards — the key is issued against it.
Can I return a licence?
Software licences and activation keys are delivered electronically and are excluded from the 14-day EU return right once the key has been issued. If you are unsure which key you need, ask us first — with your serial number we can confirm it.
Not sure this is the right key?
Send us your serial number and what you want to measure. We will confirm the exact option before you order.
