Siglent SVA1000X-AMK licence: channel power, ACPR, occupied bandwidth, C/N, harmonics, TOI and spectrum monitoring as defined measurements.

What the SVA1000X-AMK licence adds

Most transmitter measurements can be improvised with markers. Channel power is an integration you can approximate; occupied bandwidth is two markers and some arithmetic; adjacent-channel ratio is four markers and a subtraction. Each of them works, and each of them is a slightly different measurement every time a different person does it.

That matters as soon as the number leaves your bench. A test report, a customer acceptance or a production line needs a measurement defined by parameters — channel bandwidth, spacing, filter shape — so that the tenth unit is measured exactly like the first, and so a disagreement can be settled by comparing settings rather than screenshots.

The SVA1000X-AMK licence adds that suite: channel power, adjacent-channel power ratio, occupied bandwidth, time-domain power, carrier-to-noise, harmonic distortion, third-order intercept and spectrum monitoring, each with its own configuration page and numeric result.

Adjacent-channel power ratioThe measurement is defined by channel bandwidth and channel spacing, so it is repeatable, rather than being read off with markers.channel bandwidthspacingmain channeladjacentadjacentACPRmain − adjacent, computed from thedefinitions, not markers
What makes it a measurement rather than an estimate. Channel bandwidth and spacing are entered as parameters, so the adjacent-channel ratio is computed the same way every time, by whoever runs it.

What it puts on the instrument

Channel power & ACPR

Power in a defined channel, and the ratio to its neighbours — the measurement that decides whether a transmitter is a good neighbour or a complaint.

Occupied bandwidth

The bandwidth containing a defined percentage of the total power, measured to a stated method instead of eyeballed at the skirts.

Harmonics and TOI

Harmonic distortion and third-order intercept, which together describe how an amplifier behaves as you push it.

Time-domain power and C/N

Burst power against time for anything that transmits intermittently, and carrier-to-noise for link-budget work.

Spectrum monitoring

Watch a band over a long period and record what appears in it — the starting point for any interference investigation.

In practice

An 868 MHz ISM module must not spill into the neighbouring channel. ACPR returns the ratio directly, and the setup is recalled unchanged for every unit on the line, so the tenth board is measured exactly like the first. With markers alone, each measurement is one person’s interpretation of where the channel edge was — which is fine until two people disagree and there is nothing to compare.

Which instruments it fits

The licence is keyed to the series, so it runs on every SVA1000X model — each up to its own top frequency. Quote your instrument’s serial number when ordering and the key is issued against it.

Model Spectrum range Tracking generator / VNA This licence
SVA1015X9 kHz – 1.5 GHz100 kHz – 1.5 GHzSupported
SVA1032X9 kHz – 3.2 GHz100 kHz – 3.2 GHzSupported
SVA1075X9 kHz – 7.5 GHz100 kHz – 7.5 GHzSupported

Spectrum analysis, the vector network analyser, the tracking generator and the 20 dB preamplifier are standard on the SVA1000X. Errors & omissions excepted.

Questions we get asked

Is this the same as the modulation analysis options?

No, and they answer different questions. The Advanced Measurement Kit measures power and where it sits in frequency. The modulation options (AMA and DMA) look inside the carrier at how well it is modulated. A transmitter can pass every measurement in this kit and still be undemodulable.

Which measurements are in it?

Channel power, adjacent-channel power ratio, occupied bandwidth, time-domain power, carrier-to-noise ratio, harmonic distortion, third-order intercept and spectrum monitoring.

Can I not just do this with markers?

You can approximate most of it. What you cannot do with markers is guarantee that the measurement is repeatable, or state the method in a report. That is the difference the licence buys.

Does it work on all three models?

Yes — SVA1015X, SVA1032X and SVA1075X, each up to its own top frequency.

The other SVA1000X options

All five sit on the same instrument and can be added at any time. See all licences and accessories.

Not sure this is the licence you need?

Send us your serial number and what you are trying to measure. We will confirm which option covers it — and tell you if your instrument already can.
