Siglent SVA1000X-VNA Vector Network Analysis Option license option
Siglent SVA1000X-VNA licence for spectrum-only units. VNA, tracking generator and preamplifier are standard on current units — check the serial first.
Check your instrument before ordering this. On current SVA1000X units the vector network analyser, the tracking generator and the 20 dB preamplifier are standard — the datasheet lists them as base capability, not as options. This licence exists for units that were supplied in a spectrum-only configuration. Read the option list on the instrument under System → Information, or send us the serial number and we will confirm it for you. The most common support case on this item is a licence bought for something the instrument could already do.
If your unit shipped spectrum-only, this restores the network analyser
The SVA1000X is unusual in its class because the network analyser is not an afterthought bolted onto a spectrum analyser: S11 and S21 with 90 dB of dynamic range, magnitude and phase, Smith chart, VSWR and group delay. It is why the instrument replaces two boxes on a bench that would otherwise need both.
On current units all of that is standard. Where this licence applies is the older or specially-configured instrument that was supplied spectrum-only — there the licence enables the VNA mode without any hardware change or return to the factory.
If you are unsure which you have, do not guess: the instrument will tell you, and so will we if you send the serial number.
What it puts on the instrument
S11 and S21
Reflection and transmission with magnitude and phase — the four numbers behind return loss, insertion loss, matching and filter shape.
Smith chart
Impedance where you can see it, which is what makes a matching network something you design rather than something you try.
90 dB dynamic range
Enough to see a filter's stopband as well as its passband, rather than measuring down into the noise floor.
Group delay
Phase slope against frequency — how much a filter smears the signal passing through it.
The honest example here is the one that saves money: before ordering, open System → Information on the instrument and read the option list. If VNA is present, you already have it and this licence buys you nothing. If it is absent, this is exactly the item you need — and it is still cheaper than the separate network analyser the alternative would be.
What you need alongside it
The licence is the software half of the job. These are the parts of the measurement it assumes you have.
A calibration kit
A network analyser is only as good as its calibration plane. The F503ME open/short/load kit to 4.5 GHz moves that plane to the end of your own cable.
The right adaptors
The UKitSSA3X utility kit keeps a proper set with the instrument. Note its BNC parts are specified only to about 2 GHz.
Which instruments it fits
The licence is keyed to the series, so it runs on every SVA1000X model — each up to its own top frequency. Quote your instrument’s serial number when ordering and the key is issued against it.

Questions we get asked
How do I tell whether I already have VNA?
On the instrument, open System → Information and read the option list, or simply look for the VNA mode in the mode menu. If you would rather not, send us the serial number and we will check it before you order.
Why does this licence exist if VNA is standard?
Because not every unit in the field is a current one. Instruments supplied in a spectrum-only configuration can be brought up to the full capability with a key rather than being replaced.
Is the tracking generator included as well?
The tracking generator is standard hardware on the SVA1000X. It is the analysis mode this licence unlocks, not the generator.
What frequency range does the VNA cover?
From 100 kHz to the top frequency of your model — 1.5 GHz on the SVA1015X, 3.2 GHz on the SVA1032X and 7.5 GHz on the SVA1075X.
Does it do two-port S22 and S12?
It measures S11 and S21. For the full four-parameter set, turn the device under test around or use a dedicated two-port analyser such as the SNA5000A series.
