Siglent SDS7000A-CT-2.5/5/10GBASE-T is a 2.5GBASE-T, 5GBASE-T and 10GBASE-T transmitter compliance to IEEE 802.3-2018, automated with the FX-MGETH fixture. For the SDS7000A. ( license option )
SDS7000A-CT-2.5/5/10GBASE-T — 2.5G/5G/10GBASE-T compliance test (software)
2.5GBASE-T, 5GBASE-T and 10GBASE-T transmitter compliance to IEEE 802.3-2018, automated with the FX-MGETH fixture.
Supplied as a licence key issued against the instrument's serial number. There is no hardware to fit and nothing to return: the code is entered in the instrument's own menu and the function is available immediately, on the instrument you already own.

What this option does
What it does
Runs the multi-gigabit copper Ethernet transmitter suite: maximum output droop (positive and negative), transmitter timing jitter as master and as slave, transmit clock frequency, transmitter linearity on five tones, non-linear distortion on five tones (2.5GBASE-T), power spectral density and power level, and MDI return loss. The oscilloscope configures itself, measures against the IEEE limits and writes the report.
What you use it for
2.5G, 5G and 10GBASE-T run multi-gigabit rates over existing twisted pair, which leaves little margin; a port that is marginal passes link-up and then throws errors under load. The suite proves the transmitter before the design goes to a test house.
In practice
A 10GBASE-T switch port negotiates down to 5G on long cables. The linearity tones show distortion on one pair; a magnetics change fixes it and the full suite confirms the fix in one run.
Needs the FX-MGETH test fixture for the physical connection; MDI return loss additionally needs a vector network analyser, as with the other Ethernet suites. The key is issued against the oscilloscope’s serial number.
What the suite tests
From the SDS7000A data sheet EN04A.
| Standard | IEEE 802.3-2018 |
| Test items | Maximum output droop (positive, negative) · transmitter timing jitter, master and slave · transmit clock frequency · transmitter linearity (tones 1–5) · transmitter non-linear distortion (tones 1–5, 2.5GBASE-T only) · power tests (PSD, power level) · MDI return loss |
| Fixture | FX-MGETH |
| Also needed | Vector network analyser for MDI return loss |
| Output | Automatic set-up, pass/fail against the limits, report |
Compatibility
The option runs on every SDS7000A model. Fixtures and compliance applications are the same on the A and AP models.

Questions about SDS7000A-CT-2.5/5/10GBASE-T
Do I need a fixture?
Yes — the FX-MGETH multi-gigabit Ethernet fixture (sold separately) provides the test points and loads the standard defines. MDI return loss additionally needs a vector network analyser.
Which SDS7000A models run it?
All of them — the A models and the AP models. For the fastest interfaces the higher-bandwidth models leave more margin in the measurement, but the application itself is the same key on every model.
Is the report a certificate?
It is pre-compliance evidence: the standard’s own test items with pass/fail against the limits and the captured waveforms. It tells you what a test house will find before you book one; it does not replace the test house where formal certification is required.
How is the licence delivered?
Supplied as a licence key issued against the instrument's serial number. There is no hardware to fit and nothing to return: the code is entered in the instrument's own menu and the function is available immediately, on the instrument you already own. Add the instrument’s serial number to your order, or send it to us afterwards — the key is issued against it.
Can I return a licence?
Software licences and activation keys are delivered electronically and are excluded from the 14-day EU return right once the key has been issued. If you are unsure which key you need, ask us first — with your serial number we can confirm it.
Not sure this is the right key?
Send us your serial number and what you want to measure. We will confirm the exact option before you order.
