FX-ETH — 100BASE-TX / 1000BASE-T compliance test fixture
100BASE-TX and 1000BASE-T Ethernet compliance test fixture for the SDS7000A — the hardware half of the CT-100BASE-T and CT-1000BASE-T options.
A hardware test fixture: it is shipped, not emailed. The matching compliance-test software option is a separate licence on the oscilloscope.

What this fixture is for
What it is
The Ethernet electrical compliance test fixture for standard copper Ethernet (100BASE-TX and 1000BASE-T) on the SDS7000A. The kit holds the fixture board, a 6-inch UTP RJ45 cable, eight 50 Ω SMA terminators, four SMA cables, four BNC-SMA adaptors and twelve jumpers. The board has ten marked sections: return-loss calibration (open, short, load), differential-probe and SMA test points, a balun section for single-port return loss, 1000BASE-T common-mode and disturber (test mode 1 and 4) sections, 100BASE-TX link-partner sections and a jitter-test section. A test fixture is the physical half of a compliance test. A compliance limit is defined at a specific point, into a specific impedance, with specific terminations; improvising that with probes and adapters produces numbers that cannot be compared against the standard. The fixture makes the set-up the one the specification describes. It is hardware and is shipped; the matching software option must be licensed on the oscilloscope.
What you use it for
The IEEE templates, droop, distortion and jitter tests are defined at the MDI into a specified load; the fixture puts the device under test there and routes each test point to the scope.
In practice
A gigabit port on a new controller board passes link-up but shows errors on long runs. The with-disturber template tests fail at point A; a change to the magnetics brings it inside the mask and the report documents it.
Pair it with SDS7000A-CT-100BASE-T and/or SDS7000A-CT-1000BASE-T (sold separately). Siglent’s manual also calls for a differential probe above 2 GHz (SAP2500D or SAP5000D) or SMA cables, a vector network analyser for MDI return loss, a two-channel arbitrary waveform generator for the 1000BASE-T disturber tests and a 103 m cable for the slave-mode jitter test. Hardware, not a licence.

Questions about FX-ETH
Is the software included?
No. The fixture is the hardware half; the matching SDS7000A-CT software option is a separate licence and must be installed on the oscilloscope for the test suite to run.
Does it work with other oscilloscopes?
Siglent specify it for the SDS7000A with the corresponding compliance-test application. The fixture itself is passive and presents standard test points, but the automated suite that uses them runs on the SDS7000A.
What else do I need for a full Ethernet compliance run?
According to Siglent’s fixture manual: an SDS7000A with more than 2 GHz of bandwidth, a differential probe above 2 GHz (SAP2500D or SAP5000D) or SMA cables, a vector network analyser for MDI return loss, a two-channel arbitrary waveform generator for the 1000BASE-T disturber tests, and a 103 m cable for the slave-mode jitter test.
How is it delivered?
As hardware, shipped from the Netherlands with the invoice from the official EU distributor. Add the oscilloscope’s serial number to your order if you buy the matching software option at the same time, so that key can be issued against it.
Not sure this is the right fixture?
Send us your serial number and what you want to measure. We will confirm the exact fixture and software option before you order.
