Siglent FX-MGETH 2.5G / 5G / 10G Ethernet test fixture
2.5G, 5G and 10GBASE-T multi-gigabit Ethernet compliance test fixture for the SDS7000A. For the SDS7000A.
FX-MGETH — 2.5G / 5G / 10G Ethernet test fixture
2.5G, 5G and 10GBASE-T multi-gigabit Ethernet compliance test fixture for the SDS7000A.
A hardware test fixture: it is shipped, not emailed. The matching compliance-test software option is a separate licence on the oscilloscope.

What this fixture is for
What it is
The test fixture for multi-gigabit copper Ethernet (2.5GBASE-T, 5GBASE-T and 10GBASE-T) on the SDS7000A: it presents the device under test at the IEEE 802.3-2018 test points for the droop, jitter, clock-frequency, linearity, distortion, power and return-loss tests run by the SDS7000A-CT-2.5/5/10GBASE-T option. A test fixture is the physical half of a compliance test. A compliance limit is defined at a specific point, into a specific impedance, with specific terminations; improvising that with probes and adapters produces numbers that cannot be compared against the standard. The fixture makes the set-up the one the specification describes. It is hardware and is shipped; the matching software option must be licensed on the oscilloscope.
What you use it for
Multi-gigabit rates over twisted pair leave little margin, and the linearity and PSD tests in particular depend on a defined load and connection; the fixture supplies them.
In practice
A 10GBASE-T port that negotiates down on long cables is run through the suite on the fixture; the linearity tones point at one pair and a magnetics change is confirmed in a single run.
Pair it with SDS7000A-CT-2.5/5/10GBASE-T (sold separately); MDI return loss needs a vector network analyser. Hardware, not a licence.

Questions about FX-MGETH
Is the software included?
No. The fixture is the hardware half; the matching SDS7000A-CT software option is a separate licence and must be installed on the oscilloscope for the test suite to run.
Does it work with other oscilloscopes?
Siglent specify it for the SDS7000A with the corresponding compliance-test application. The fixture itself is passive and presents standard test points, but the automated suite that uses them runs on the SDS7000A.
How is it delivered?
As hardware, shipped from the Netherlands with the invoice from the official EU distributor. Add the oscilloscope’s serial number to your order if you buy the matching software option at the same time, so that key can be issued against it.
Not sure this is the right fixture?
Send us your serial number and what you want to measure. We will confirm the exact fixture and software option before you order.
