SDS-5000X-4BW05 — 350 MHz to 500 MHz, 4-channel

Software licence — activated by key, no hardware

Raises the analogue bandwidth from 350 MHz to 500 MHz by key — no hardware change.

A bandwidth upgrade is a licence, not a board swap. The analogue front end is already capable of the higher bandwidth; the licence removes the limit in firmware. The instrument stays on your bench, keeps its serial number and calibration history, and the change takes effect as soon as the code is entered.

What this option does

What it does

A software key that turns a 350 MHz SDS5000X into the 500 MHz model — the SDS5034X into the SDS5054X, or on the 2-channel instrument the SDS5032X into the SDS5052X. It is entered on the instrument; no part is changed. One specification stays as it was: Siglent’s data sheet notes that an upgraded instrument keeps the offset range of the 350 MHz model.

What you use it for

More bandwidth for faster edges and higher-frequency content, without replacing an instrument that is otherwise doing its job.

In practice

A bench bought for motor-drive work takes on a gate driver with nanosecond edges. The oscilloscope’s own rise time falls from 1.0 ns to 0.7 ns, so less of the edge on screen belongs to the instrument — and it keeps its probes, its calibration history and its place on the bench.

Before you order

⚠ This is as far as a 350 MHz SDS5000X goes: Siglent do not offer a 1 GHz upgrade for the 350 MHz model. The supplied 500 MHz passive probes match this upgrade.

Compatibility

This key fits exactly one instrument. Find yours in the table: the row is the channel count, the column the bandwidth it has today.

Questions about SDS-5000X-4BW05

Which instrument does SDS-5000X-4BW05 fit?

The SDS5034X — the 4-channel, 350 MHz model. After the key is entered it is the SDS5054X. The keys are specific to the channel count, so order the 4-channel key for a 4-channel instrument.

Can I upgrade to 1 GHz later?

No. Siglent do not offer a 1 GHz upgrade for the 350 MHz model — 500 MHz is as far as it goes. If you expect to need 1 GHz, a SDS5104X is the instrument to look at.

Is the upgraded instrument identical to a SDS5054X?

In bandwidth, yes. Siglent’s data sheet notes one difference: an instrument upgraded from 350 MHz keeps the offset range of the SDS5034X.

Do I need different probes after the upgrade?

No. The SP3050A probes supplied with the instrument are rated 500 MHz, which matches this upgrade.

Does the upgrade affect calibration?

The instrument keeps its serial number and its calibration history. If your quality system requires a calibration after a specification change, we can arrange ISO or DKD/DAkkS calibration.

How is the licence delivered?

Supplied as a licence key issued against the instrument's serial number. There is no hardware to fit and nothing to return: the code is entered in the instrument's own menu and the function is available immediately, on the instrument you already own. Add the instrument’s serial number to your order, or send it to us afterwards — the key is issued against it.

Can I return a licence?

Software licences and activation keys are delivered electronically and are excluded from the 14-day EU return right once the key has been issued. If you are unsure which key you need, ask us first — with your serial number we can confirm it.

Not sure this is the right key?

Send us your serial number and what you want to measure. We will confirm the exact option before you order.
