SDS5000HD-1553B — MIL-STD-1553B trigger & decode
MIL-STD-1553B trigger and decode on the analogue channels.
Supplied as a licence key issued against the instrument's serial number. There is no hardware to fit and nothing to return: the code is entered in the instrument's own menu and the function is available immediately, on the instrument you already own.
What this option does
What it does
Triggers on transfer, word, error or timing conditions and decodes MIL-STD-1553B traffic. The bus is differential and transformer-coupled, so the waveform matters as much as the words — and this decoder reads the analogue channels.
What you use it for
1553B faults are often electrical before they are logical: a stub, a termination or a coupler degrades the signal until words start to fail.
In practice
An integrator chasing intermittent remote-terminal timeouts triggers on errors and finds the waveform amplitude at one stub below the threshold, because of one tap too many on the bus.
Decoding uses analogue channels C1 to C8 only, not the SPL2016’s digital channels.

Can I decode from the SPL2016 logic probe?
No. MIL-STD-1553B decodes from the analogue channels C1 to C8 only.
Which protocols are already included?
I²C, SPI, UART, CAN and LIN trigger and decode are standard on every SDS5000X HD. CAN FD, FlexRay, I²S, MIL-STD-1553B, SENT, ARINC 429 and Manchester are keys. Up to two decoders run at the same time.
How is the licence delivered?
Supplied as a licence key issued against the instrument's serial number. There is no hardware to fit and nothing to return: the code is entered in the instrument's own menu and the function is available immediately, on the instrument you already own. Add the instrument’s serial number to your order, or send it to us afterwards — the key is issued against it.
Can I return a licence?
Software licences and activation keys are delivered electronically and are excluded from the 14-day EU return right once the key has been issued. If you are unsure which key you need, ask us first — with your serial number we can confirm it.
