I²S audio trigger and decode, including left- and right-justified formats.
Supplied as a licence key issued against the instrument's serial number. There is no hardware to fit and nothing to return: the code is entered in the instrument's own menu and the function is available immediately, on the instrument you already own.
What this option does
What it does
Decodes I²S from bit clock, word select and data, in the standard, left-justified and right-justified variants, with 0 to 31 start bits and 1 to 32 data bits. Triggers on data, mute, clip, glitch, or a rising or falling edge.
What you use it for
Audio faults are usually in the data, not the electrical signal — a swapped channel, a word-length mismatch or a clipped sample looks healthy on an undecoded trace.
In practice
A product clips on one channel at high volume. Triggering on clip captures the offending samples directly, instead of scrolling through seconds of healthy audio to find them.

Can I decode from the SPL2016 logic probe?
Yes. I²S decodes from the analogue channels or from the SPL2016’s 16 digital channels.
Which protocols are already included?
I²C, SPI, UART, CAN and LIN trigger and decode are standard on every SDS5000X HD. CAN FD, FlexRay, I²S, MIL-STD-1553B, SENT, ARINC 429 and Manchester are keys. Up to two decoders run at the same time.
How is the licence delivered?
Supplied as a licence key issued against the instrument's serial number. There is no hardware to fit and nothing to return: the code is entered in the instrument's own menu and the function is available immediately, on the instrument you already own. Add the instrument’s serial number to your order, or send it to us afterwards — the key is issued against it.
Can I return a licence?
Software licences and activation keys are delivered electronically and are excluded from the 14-day EU return right once the key has been issued. If you are unsure which key you need, ask us first — with your serial number we can confirm it.
