Manchester decode, 500 bps to 5 Mbps — decode only, no trigger.
Supplied as a licence key issued against the instrument's serial number. There is no hardware to fit and nothing to return: the code is entered in the instrument's own menu and the function is available immediately, on the instrument you already own.
What this option does
What it does
Decodes Manchester-encoded serial data from 500 bps to 5 Mbps on the analogue channels. On this series it is a decoder only: there is no Manchester trigger, so capture with an edge, pulse-width or pattern trigger and let the decoder read what was captured.
What you use it for
Manchester appears wherever a link carries its own clock — industrial sensors, lighting control, RFID, legacy telemetry — and its self-clocking coding is hard to read by eye.
In practice
A DALI lighting bus stops responding to one fixture. Decoding the capture shows the command going out correctly and the reply coming back malformed, which moves the investigation to the fixture.
⚠ Decode only — the SDS5000X HD has no Manchester trigger. Decoding uses analogue channels C1 to C8 only, not the SPL2016’s digital channels.

Can I trigger on Manchester data?
No. On the SDS5000X HD Manchester is decode only. Capture with an edge, pulse-width or pattern trigger, and the decoder reads what was captured.
Can I decode from the SPL2016 logic probe?
No. Manchester decodes from the analogue channels C1 to C8 only.
Which protocols are already included?
I²C, SPI, UART, CAN and LIN trigger and decode are standard on every SDS5000X HD. CAN FD, FlexRay, I²S, MIL-STD-1553B, SENT, ARINC 429 and Manchester are keys. Up to two decoders run at the same time.
How is the licence delivered?
Supplied as a licence key issued against the instrument's serial number. There is no hardware to fit and nothing to return: the code is entered in the instrument's own menu and the function is available immediately, on the instrument you already own. Add the instrument’s serial number to your order, or send it to us afterwards — the key is issued against it.
Can I return a licence?
Software licences and activation keys are delivered electronically and are excluded from the 14-day EU return right once the key has been issued. If you are unsure which key you need, ask us first — with your serial number we can confirm it.
