Siglent SDS-5000X-PA Power analysis (software)
Siglent SDS5000X-PA Power Analysis Option – Switching loss, SOA, ripple, PSRR, inrush, harmonics and efficiency — power measurement as a guided application. For the SDS5000X.
SDS-5000X-PA — Power analysis
Switching loss, SOA, ripple, PSRR, inrush, harmonics and efficiency — power measurement as a guided application.
Supplied as a licence key issued against the instrument's serial number. There is no hardware to fit and nothing to return: the code is entered in the instrument's own menu and the function is available immediately, on the instrument you already own.

What this option does
What it does
Adds the power-analysis application. From a voltage channel and a current channel it measures power quality, current harmonics, inrush current, switching loss, slew rate, modulation, output ripple, turn-on and turn-off, transient response, PSRR, efficiency and safe operating area, with the results tabulated rather than left to cursors.
What you use it for
Repeatable switching-converter measurements to a defined method, instead of hours of cursor work and a spreadsheet.
In practice
Qualifying a 48 V to 12 V converter across its load range: turn-on and turn-off loss per cycle, output ripple and PSRR, then efficiency at each load point — and the same measurement repeated identically on the next unit.
You need a high-voltage differential probe for the voltage, a current probe for the current, and the DF2001A fixture to remove the delay between them before measuring switching loss.
What it measures
From the SDS5000X data sheet.
| Measurements | Power quality, current harmonics, inrush current, switching loss, slew rate, modulation, output ripple, turn-on / turn-off, transient response, PSRR, efficiency, SOA |
| Inputs | A voltage channel and a current channel per measurement |
| You also need | A high-voltage differential probe, a current probe and the DF2001A deskew fixture |
Compatibility
The option runs on every SDS5000X model, at every bandwidth and channel count.
| Channels | 350 MHz | 500 MHz | 1 GHz |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4-channel | Compatible | Compatible | Compatible |
| 2-channel | SDS5032X (no longer made) Compatible | SDS5052X (no longer made) Compatible | SDS5102X (no longer made) Compatible |
The 2-channel SDS5032X, SDS5052X and SDS5102X are no longer made; their keys remain available. The SDS5000X HD is a different series with its own option keys.

Questions about SDS-5000X-PA
What else do I need besides the licence?
A high-voltage differential probe for the voltage, a current probe for the current, and the DF2001A fixture to remove the delay between the two probes before you measure switching loss.
Is the harmonics result a compliance test?
It is a pre-compliance measurement: a reliable indication of where a design stands before it goes to an accredited test house, not a certificate.
Does it work on every SDS5000X?
Yes — the 4-channel models at every bandwidth, and the 2-channel models that are no longer made. With four channels you can measure two voltage and current pairs at the same time.
How is the licence delivered?
Supplied as a licence key issued against the instrument's serial number. There is no hardware to fit and nothing to return: the code is entered in the instrument's own menu and the function is available immediately, on the instrument you already own. Add the instrument’s serial number to your order, or send it to us afterwards — the key is issued against it.
Can I return a licence?
Software licences and activation keys are delivered electronically and are excluded from the 14-day EU return right once the key has been issued. If you are unsure which key you need, ask us first — with your serial number we can confirm it.
Not sure this is the right key?
Send us your serial number and what you want to measure. We will confirm the exact option before you order.
