Siglent SDG8002A 2CH AWG up to 5 GHz and 12 GSa/s sampling rate.
The SIGLENT SDG8002A is a high-performance 2-channel arbitrary waveform generator with up to 5 GHz output frequency at 12 GSa/s sampling rate and 16-bit vertical resolution. It features advanced TrueArb and EasyPulse technology for low-jitter waveforms and precise pulse control, with up to 4 Gpts memory per channel.
The instrument supports multi-pulse, multi-tone, chirp, PRBS up to 1.25 Gbps, rich modulation, and full IQ capability. Ideal for 5G/6G development, high-speed serial testing, radar, and semiconductor validation.
Product overview
The SDG8002A brings five distinct signal-generation engines together in one 2-channel chassis — a function generator, a true arbitrary waveform generator, an I/Q vector-signal generator, an analog & digital modulation generator and a protocol-signal generator. Moving between them is a single menu selection: there is no hardware to add and no re-cabling, so one instrument covers work that traditionally demanded a separate high-end AWG and a standalone vector signal generator side by side on the bench.
Waveforms are synthesised with DAC interpolation, which pushes image spectra far from the carrier and lets a simple, low-distortion reconstruction filter clean up the output. The pay-off is high fidelity with flat group delay, low quantisation noise and a stable, repeatable signal — held together by a standard high-precision 10 MHz OCXO timebase and a low phase-noise synthesis chain that stays clean from baseband right up to the top of the range.

This makes the SDG8002A a cost-effective route to wideband I/Q generation — up to 2 GHz of modulation bandwidth — for 5G NR, Wi-Fi, LTE, Bluetooth and IoT development, while its deep memory, PRBS patterns and multi-pulse, multi-tone and chirp functions extend it to high-speed serial, radar & LiDAR and power-semiconductor characterisation. It is designed for advanced R&D across communications, semiconductor, automotive and medical electronics, where signal speed, accuracy and flexibility matter more than a single fixed function.
Five instruments in one
A single mode selector reconfigures the SDG8002A between five signal-generation engines — no extra hardware, no re-cabling.
AFG — function generator
Standard waveforms, harmonics (to the 20th), Gaussian noise, PRBS and arbitrary waveforms, with frequency hopping. Sine to 2 GHz via DDS.
AWG — arbitrary generator
Point-by-point playback to 5 GSa/s with waveform recall (built-in, stored, EasyWaveX), segment editing, multi-tone and multi-pulse; up to 512 scenarios / 4096 sequences / 16 384 segments.
I/Q signal generator
Vector I/Q signals with ASK, PSK, QAM, FSK, MSK, OFDM and multi-tone modulation, at symbol rates from 500 Symb/s to 2 GSymb/s.
Modulated signal generator
Analog and digital modulation — AM, DSB-SC, FM, PM, ASK, FSK, PSK and PWM — plus frequency/amplitude sweep and pulse.
Protocol signal generator
Ready-made protocol signals for Bluetooth, IoT, LTE TDD/FDD, 5G NR and IEEE 802.11ax / 802.11be, generated with SigIQPro and EasyIQ.
Four output modes, one connector
Each channel drives an SMA output that can be configured for the best trade-off between amplitude, bandwidth and fidelity — from clean direct RF to amplified wideband pulses.
| Output mode | Coupling | Max amplitude | Analog BW (−3 dB) | Amplifier | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| DC-HBW DC High Bandwidth | DC | 750 mVpp | DC – 2 GHz | No | Wideband baseband & pulses — highest bandwidth |
| DC-AMP DC Amplified | DC | 1.5 Vpp | DC – 2 GHz | Yes | Large-amplitude signals with DC content |
| AC-DIR AC Direct | AC | ~158 mVpp | 10 MHz – 1.7 GHz | No | Clean RF — best signal fidelity |
| AC-AMP AC Amplified | AC | ~2 Vpp | 10 MHz – 2 GHz | Yes | RF signals needing higher amplitude |
The direct paths (DC-HBW, AC-DIR) are standard. The amplified paths DC-AMP and AC-AMP are enabled by the SDG8000A-DCAMP and SDG8000-ACAMP options — see Options & upgrades below.
