Supplied as a licence key issued against the instrument's serial number. There is no hardware to fit and nothing to return: the code is entered in the instrument's own menu and the function is available immediately, on the instrument you already own.
What this option does
What it does
Decodes SpaceWire from the Data and Strobe lines at 2 to 400 Mbps or a custom rate, with fixed-speed or automatic clock recovery, automatic, NULL, pattern or manual synchronisation, and a character or packet view. It is a decoder only and reads the analogue channels.
What you use it for
SpaceWire links the instruments, memories and processors of spacecraft data-handling systems; bringing up a unit means seeing whether the link starts and where the character stream breaks.
In practice
A new instrument unit will not establish its link. Decoding the start-up shows whether the two ends get as far as exchanging NULLs, and in the packet view where the traffic stops once they do.
⚠ Decode only — the SDS5000X has no SpaceWire trigger. Decoding uses analogue channels C1 to C4 only, not the SPL2016’s digital channels. Put the two signals on C1 and C3 rather than C1 and C2: with one channel of each pair active the SDS5000X keeps its full 5 GSa/s, with both channels of a pair active it samples at 2.5 GSa/s.

Compatibility
The option runs on every SDS5000X model, at every bandwidth. It is newer than Siglent’s 2019 data sheet, so an instrument from that period needs current firmware first.

The 2-channel SDS5032X, SDS5052X and SDS5102X are no longer made; their keys remain available. The SDS5000X HD is a different series with its own option keys.

Can I trigger on SpaceWire data?
No. On the SDS5000X SpaceWire is decode only. Capture with an edge, pulse-width or pattern trigger, and the decoder reads what was captured.
Can I decode from the SPL2016 logic probe?
No. SpaceWire decodes from the analogue channels C1 to C4 only.
Which channels should I use for Data and Strobe?
C1 and C3, rather than C1 and C2. With one channel of each pair active the SDS5000X keeps its full 5 GSa/s; with both channels of a pair active it samples at 2.5 GSa/s.
Does it work on an older SDS5000X?
Siglent’s 2019 data sheet does not list SpaceWire, so an instrument from that period needs current firmware before the key can be used. Send us the serial number and we will confirm before you order.
Which protocols are already included?
I²C, SPI, UART, CAN and LIN trigger and decode are standard on every SDS5000X. CAN FD, FlexRay, I²S, MIL-STD-1553B and SENT are trigger-and-decode keys; CAN XL, Manchester, ARINC 429 and SpaceWire are decode-only keys. Two decoders run at the same time.
How is the licence delivered?
Supplied as a licence key issued against the instrument's serial number. There is no hardware to fit and nothing to return: the code is entered in the instrument's own menu and the function is available immediately, on the instrument you already own. Add the instrument’s serial number to your order, or send it to us afterwards — the key is issued against it.
Can I return a licence?
Software licences and activation keys are delivered electronically and are excluded from the 14-day EU return right once the key has been issued. If you are unsure which key you need, ask us first — with your serial number we can confirm it.
